God’s Peace

MY PEACE is the treasure of treasures: the pearl of great price. It is an exquisitely costly gift, both for he Giver and the receiver. I purchased this Peace for you with My Blood. You receive this gift by trusting Me in the midst of life’s storms. If you have the world’s peace-everything going your way-you don’t seek My unfathomable Peace. Thank Me when things do not go your way, because spiritual blessings come wrapped in trials. Adverse circumstances are normal in a fallen world. Expect them each day. Rejoice in the face of hardships, for I have overcome the world.
Matthew 13:46 James 1:2 John 16:33

Have you chosen to accept God’s peace in all circumstances?

No Comfort Zones

Often God asks us to do something which we are incapable of doing. The very thought of trying to accomplish the task opens our heart’s door to insecurities and fears. Instead of being overwhelmed and scared, let us look to God with anticipation of what He will do through us. His word says that when we are weak He is strong. It also reminds us that He often takes us to the place where we CAN’T- so that He CAN.

We know there is no way for us to accomplish it on our own, so when we succeed, He alone gets the glory. That is the way it should be! Trust Him! Be amazed at what He can do through you. Things that can be accomplished by His strength alone. Then stand in awe and give Him the glory that He deserves.

What is God asking you to do?

2 Corinthians 12:9-10, 1 Corinthians 1:27-31

When I was a little girl my uncle and I would take long motorcycle rides through the mountains. I would sit in front of him protected by his strong arms as we rode on the snakelike country roads of Tennessee. Some days we would drive to the top of the mountain where he once owned a home. Others we would drive along the old lake bed and come out by the church. If we were lucky as we rode along the base of the mountain the hang gliders would be soaring off the point and eventually land in the field across from us. My favorite time to ride was in Autumn when the leaves were all shades of colors and the wind was brisk. These were leisure days that made for fabulous memories.

I absolutely loved our rides and I always begged him to go again and again. Every time I saw him the first thing I would ask was if we could go on a motorcycle ride. I asked and asked and asked until He finally said yes. Then we would get out the old bike and spend what seemed like an eternity trying to kick start it. But once it finally began to sputter we were off on our adventure.

It’s been a long time since I’ve ridden a motorcycle, but it hasn’t been that long since I’ve wanted something enough to pursue it. There are days when I want a coffee and will make a special trip to buy one. There are other days when I want to sleep and I can’t get back to bed fast enough. It’s like no matter what, I am focused on that “thing”. It may be food, or beverage, or a vacation. Just last week I was sick enough to pursue Hermana Candy so that she would give me a shot.

Pursue…..it’s a word that describes action. When you pursue something, you don’t just sit back and wait for it to happen. You actively go for it. You try to make it happen. It’s something you want badly enough to seek it. And that is how God wants us to be about somethings in our lives. He wants us to pursue them.

Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
Psalm 34:14 (ESV)

What are you pursuing?

My way or His Way?

Psalm 32:8-9
The Voice (VOICE)
8 I will teach you and tell you the way to go and how to get there;
I will give you good counsel, and I will watch over you.
9 But don’t be stubborn and stupid like horses and mules
who, if not reined by leather and metal,
will run wild, ignoring their masters.

I wish I could say that living life God’s way is more important to me than living life my way. But so often my actions reveal the darkness that lurks within me. Like the Apostle Paul “I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.” (Romans 7:15 ESV)
And yet God promises that He will instruct me if I am willing. The question is….am I willing?

Sometimes I am not! I don’t like to be molded and sculpted and I certainly don’t like being told what to do. It’s frustrating and uncomfortable, if nothing else it hurts my pride. It reminds me that I need to change, and let’s be honest, no one really likes to change. We get comfortable, unwilling to go His way and denying that we need to. But allowing Him to change and guide us is the best decision. He tells us in His Word that He has good plans for us. Why is it that we so often fight against Him?
So,we have a choice to make, my friend. We can be like the mule going our own way or we can submit to the Master’s hand and let Him instruct us in the way we should go. What will it be?

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” It’s the gentle call of our Savior. Sit quietly for a moment-can you hear His voice? He promises to never leave nor forsake us. He promises that His power is made perfect in our weakness. He promises strength for each moment, rest in the midst of our difficulty. Do you believe Him? Do I believe Him? And if we do is it evident by the way we live?

What is the secret to power…strength…rest?

The secret is so simple that many times we just rush right past it.
Come close and hear me whisper the secret.
“Come”………..”Come to Jesus”.

When life is busy do we “come” to Him?
During those moments when we need Him most: those times of celebration as well as those times of despair, do we come to Him or do we just rush right past Him focusing on the day’s troubles?

Let’s take time today, it won’t take long. In fact the time we spend seeking Jesus will replace some of our “worry” time. So if you ask me that is a pretty good trade!
“Come to Him”! Let’s invite Him to join us, not only when we are at our best, but when life becomes dirty and complicated and even overwhelming. In those difficult circumstances, let’s take a moment, just a moment, and ask for His help, invite Him to live life with us, and then let’s see what a difference He makes. I bet He won’t disappoint us.

Going Out

“He went out not knowing where he was going.”
Hebrews 11:8 NKJV

“Do you believe in a miracle-working God, and will you “go out” in complete surrender to Him until you are not surprised one iota by anything He does?”
My Utmost for His Highest
Oswald Chambers

In this new year let us determine to draw near to God, trusting Him more and following Him wherever He may lead.
