For days not I have been trying to write something about our mission trip to Honduras. Giving you some facts about why we went and what happened there. But I can seem to put into words all that God did in us and the people there.
You see, Genesis and Trinity have been a part of a year long discipleship program with YWAM, called King’s Kids. To put in practice all they had learned over their year of study and preparation the group took a mission trip to Honduras.
I thought I was just a chaperone, but God had something different in mind. Each step of the way there were divine appointments for each of us. Trinity, walking along side a major highway one day, learned that she needed to stand firm and that God is faithful to protect us. Genesis learned the importance of family, as she counseled little girls who had been abandoned. I was able to encourage leadership, pray for the sick and share the love of God to the hurting and lost. I describe the trip as being wonderful and difficult all rolled together.
The highlight of my trip was being able to befriend a precious Garifuna family. A single mom and her two young daughters. As we talked the morning before I boarded the bus to leave, tears filled her (our) eyes as she expressed how she thought God had forgotten her and that through our practical demonstration of love she realized she was not forgotten and that there was Hope.
I am so thankful for the life God has allowed me to live. The opportunity to share hope with the hopeless & love with the unloved. It is truly a blessing to be a full-time missionary and have the opportunity to “go” on a short term mission trip. Thank you for being a part of the Great Commission as you pray for and support financially our efforts. I count it a blessing to be able to spread the aroma of Christ to a world who knows Him not. (2 Cor. 2:14-16)
